New Delhi: India and the US exchanged perspectives on Monday regarding developments in the Indo-Pacific, the Indian Sub-continent, Europe, the Middle East, and the Caribbean. Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar announced that he held a telephonic conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, where they deliberated on these regions.
According to Kuwait News Agency, both officials emphasized the importance of swiftly concluding the Bilateral Trade Agreement. Jaishankar shared the details of his discussion with Rubio on his official X account, highlighting their exchange on various regional issues and the significance of finalizing the trade agreement promptly.
The dialogue occurred amid concerns about the potential impact of the Trump administration's new trade policy on the US-India trade relationship. The Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has faced criticism from opposition parties for not clearly stating its position on the new tariffs imposed by the Trump administration.
