India and UK Pledge to Strengthen Strategic Ties After High-Level Talks


New Delhi: India and the UK have agreed to enhance their cooperation following comprehensive talks addressing bilateral, regional, and global issues of shared interest. Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar announced the outcome of the discussions held with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy in New Delhi, emphasizing the commitment to the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.



According to Kuwait News Agency, Jaishankar expressed appreciation for the UK’s strong condemnation of the recent attack on Pahalgam and its support in combating terrorism. He noted that both nations are keen on expanding their existing collaboration and anticipating the emergence of new opportunities.



Jaishankar highlighted the significance of the recent conclusion of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and the Double Contribution Convention, which he described as milestones that could boost bilateral trade and investment. He emphasized that these developments will positively impact other strategic aspects of the bilateral relationship and contribute to the strengthening of supply and value chains.



The minister also praised the Technology Security Initiative, which is expected to enhance collaboration in strategic technology sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, telecommunications, quantum computing, biotechnology, critical minerals, and advanced materials.



Jaishankar pointed out the potential of the UK-India infrastructure financial bridge to unlock long-term capital flows from the UK to India, which would significantly contribute to India’s infrastructure development. Additionally, he noted the robust collaboration in the education sector, with several universities planning to establish campuses in India.
