India and Poland Explore Enhanced Bilateral Cooperation

New delhi: India and Poland on Monday agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation in several areas of mutual interest. Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced that he met with Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, providing an opportunity for an open conversation about bilateral ties between India and Poland as well as global developments.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Jaishankar stated, "We discussed advancing our economic, technology, defence, mining, peer-to-peer, and multilateral cooperation," expressing appreciation for Poland's support for stronger India-EU ties. He emphasized the significance of their meeting during a time of considerable global change, highlighting the usefulness of exchanging views and perspectives as two nations situated in different regions, each facing its own challenges and opportunities.

Both countries reviewed the Action Plan 2024-28 to unlock "the full potential of our strategic partnership" and explored ways to enhance cooperation in trade and investment, defence and security, clean technologies, and digital innovation. Jaishankar noted that Poland is one of India's largest trading partners in Central Europe, with bilateral trade standing at USD 7 billion, reflecting a growth of almost 200 percent over the past decade. Indian investments in Poland have exceeded USD 3 billion, creating numerous job opportunities for Polish citizens.

India's robust economic growth, the size of its market, and pro-investment policies also present opportunities for Polish businesses. Both parties also deliberated on regional and global developments, underscoring the importance of their evolving partnership.
