New delhi: India and Indonesia have agreed to strengthen their defense and security cooperation following bilateral talks held in the Indian capital. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and his Indonesian counterpart, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, co-chaired the discussions, affirming the long-standing strategic partnership between the two nations.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the two defense ministers highlighted the progress made in joint exercises across land, maritime, and air forces. They emphasized officer exchanges, joint training programs, and visits to defense institutions as efforts to promote interoperability and knowledge sharing. The talks also delved into India's experience in submarine development and supply-chain management, as well as collaboration in defense medicine and pharmaceuticals.
The ministers collectively reaffirmed their commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace in Palestine. They also acknowledged potential cooperation opportunities in humanitarian assistance and reconstruction efforts. Additionally, both sides reiterated the importance of maintaining a "free and prosperous" Indo-Pacific region, guided by international law and respect for sovereignty. Indonesia recognized India as a key partner in promoting peace and cooperation in the region.
