New delhi: India and Denmark on Monday engaged in discussions aimed at deepening cooperation across multiple sectors of mutual interest. A statement from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs indicated that the 8th round of India-Denmark Foreign Office Consultations took place in New Delhi, where both nations reviewed and discussed the entire spectrum of their bilateral relations. According to Kuwait News Agency, the discussions focused on strengthening political engagement, trade and investment, renewable energy, sustainability, clean technologies, circular economy, shipping, water, agriculture, animal husbandry, food processing, research and development, and mobility. The two sides assessed the progress on the smooth mobility of talent under the bilateral Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement. There was a mutual expression of satisfaction regarding the ongoing cooperation under the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership, with an agreement to explore further avenues in defence, security, emergin g technologies, and the Arctic. Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to advancing cooperation under the framework of the India-EU Strategic Partnership, especially during Denmark's current Presidency of the Council of the EU. The Danish representatives reiterated their support for an early conclusion of an India-EU Free Trade Agreement that is ambitious and mutually beneficial. Discussions also encompassed multilateral cooperation, including engagements in the UN and the Arctic. The Danish side expressed its support for India's permanent membership in a reformed UN Security Council. Additionally, India and Denmark exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual concern, emphasizing the importance of multilateral engagements and continued dialogue on global challenges. The consultations featured Indian Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs, Sibi George, leading the Indian delegation, while State Secretary for Foreign Policy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Lotte Machon, led th e Danish side.
