Kuwait city: The official spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, announced Wednesday that the increase in respiratory illness cases in the country is within the expected seasonal rates.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the national digital platform for monitoring respiratory diseases, EmFlu, revealed that 75 percent of the recorded respiratory cases are attributed to the type (A) influenza virus. Dr. Al-Sanad explained that the platform also identified the presence of other accompanying viruses such as respiratory syncytial virus and various seasonal bacterial diseases.
The EmFlu platform marks a significant advancement in the health surveillance system by enhancing the speed of health response and providing early warnings, as noted in the statement.
Dr. Al-Sanad emphasized the ongoing national campaign for seasonal vaccinations, which has reached over 67,000 individuals in its first month. Vaccination services are available at more than 75 locations across the country, including 15 new centers aimed at expanding access and ensuring comprehensive health coverage.
He confirmed that vaccination serves as the primary defense for protecting individuals and the community, highlighting the national awareness and collective responsibility in preserving public health.
