Riyadh: President of Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University Dr. Ahmed Al-Ameri inaugurated an exhibition of manuscripts and rare books organized by the General Directorate of Library Affairs as part of activities marking Arabic Manuscript Day in the lobby of the Prince Sultan Library for Science and Knowledge.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Al-Ameri toured the exhibition's sections, which included manuscripts in scholars' handwriting, rare manuscripts, Quran manuscripts, rare dedications, descriptive catalogs, books that the late King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman ordered to be printed, and old devices used to display and read manuscripts.
At the end of the tour, Dr. Al-Ameri praised the efforts of the directorate in preserving this heritage, stressing that the exhibition gives male and female students at the university an opportunity to learn about the Kingdom's civilizations and its scholarly and historical foundations through the ages.
