Gaza: Palestinian movement Hamas has expressed gratitude to Qatar, Egypt, and Turkiye for their role in mediating an agreement aimed at halting the ongoing conflict in Gaza, facilitating the withdrawal of occupation forces, allowing the entry of aid, and arranging a prisoner exchange.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Hamas announced the conclusion of an agreement following negotiations based on a proposal by U.S. President Donald Trump. The discussions, held in Sharm El-Sheikh, were focused on ending what Hamas described as the genocide of the Palestinian people and ensuring the withdrawal of occupation forces from the Gaza Strip. The movement called on Trump and the mediators to ensure the full implementation of the agreement by the Israeli occupation.
The recent aggression by Israeli forces in Gaza resulted in the deaths of over 66,000 individuals, predominantly children, and caused injuries to many more. The conflict has also led to the destruction of approximately 80 percent of the buildings in the Strip.
In a related development, Hamas has submitted a list of Palestinian prisoners to be released in the initial phase of the Trump plan. Zaher Jabarin, who heads the martyrs and prisoners office in Hamas, stated that they are awaiting final approval of the names on the list before making them public.
