Kuwait City: Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaila affirmed on Monday that Gulf women play a key role in technological development. Speaking during an event organized by Kuwait as the chair of the current session of the GCC States, on the sidelines of the 69th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69), Al-Huwaila said Gulf women have proven their excellence in multiple technological sectors and contributed to making accomplishments in domains like artificial intelligence, engineering, programming, cybersecurity, medicine, science and technology.
According to Kuwait News Agency, this has helped boost GCC State's positions on the world digital map, Al-Huwaila pointed out. Kuwait believes that empowering women technologically is a main factor to push digital economy and technological progress, she noted. Kuwait continues efforts to enhance innovation and digital entrepreneurship, and back women's participation in the emerging sectors like cybersecurity, AI and space, she stated.
She stressed the need for increasing regional collaboration and sharing expertise to ensure empowering more women to lead technological future in the GCC states. The minister praised Gulf women's efforts as an inspiring model regionally and internationally. She vowed to support empowering women for further growth and making fingerprints in technological and digital excellence.
Speaking at the same event, Chairperson of the Kuwait Society for Inventors and Inventors' Support Dr. Fatimah Al-Thalab said that Gulf women are pioneering in the domain of medical technology and have made inventions that enhance sustainable development. She added that Kuwait has provided women with a high-quality education and honed their technological skills which helped them make technological achievements not only on the national level but also on the international level.
