Gulf Leaders Call GCC’s Joint Defence Council to Hold Urgent Meeting

Doha: The leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Monday directed the Joint Defence Council to hold an urgent meeting in Doha, preceded by a meeting of the Supreme Military Committee, to assess the GCC defence situation and the sources of threat in light of the Israeli aggression against Qatar. The leaders also directed the Unified Military Command to take the necessary executive measures to activate joint defence mechanisms and Gulf deterrence capabilities.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the decision comes amid escalating tensions in the region, prompting immediate action from the GCC. The focus of the upcoming meetings will be to analyze the current threats and strategize on enhancing the collective defense posture of member states.

The GCC leaders emphasized the importance of solidarity and cooperation among member states to ensure regional stability and security. The Unified Military Command has been tasked with implementing plans that would strengthen the Gulf's defensive capabilities and deter potential threats.
