New delhi: Ambassadors of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries discussed Gulf-India relations and ways to enhance them, focusing on coordinating efforts that serve the common interests of the GCC and India. This discussion took place during a meeting of the GCC ambassadors in New Delhi, invited by Kuwait Ambassador to India, Meshal Mustafa Alshemali, who is currently chairing the GCC Ambassadors Council.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the GCC ambassadors praised Kuwait's efforts during its presidency of the 45th session of the Council, highlighting it as a significant milestone that reinforced the principles of joint Gulf cooperation. Ambassador Al-Shemali noted that the meeting involved sharing Gulf visions and ideas to support joint action in tackling current challenges and achieving a more stable and prosperous future for the GCC and its people.
The discussions focused on recent developments across local, regional, and international scenes, along with the progress of the free trade agreement between the GCC and India. Emphasis was placed on strengthening economic and trade relations with India, increasing mutual investments, and exploring new areas of cooperation, particularly in sectors such as food security, cybersecurity, energy, trade, and education.
Participants in the meeting included Ambassador of Bahrain Abdulrahman Al-Qaoud, Ambassador of Oman Issa Al-Shaibani, Ambassador of Qatar Mohammad Al-Jaber, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia Haitham Al-Maliki, and the Charge d'Affaires of the UAE Embassy, Abdulaziz Al-Hashemi.
