Grand Egyptian Museum Inauguration Highlights Egypt-Japan Cultural Partnership

Cairo: Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has hailed the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) as a significant example of the collaborative cultural endeavors between Egypt and Japan. The announcement came during a meeting with Akihiko Tanaka, president of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and his delegation, who were visiting Cairo for the inauguration of the museum.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Madbouly expressed a strong desire to continue the collaborative efforts in managing the museum and restoring various monuments. The prime minister highlighted the enduring partnership between Cairo and Tokyo, which dates back to 1954, and expressed gratitude for JICA's support in Egypt's developmental projects across multiple sectors.

During the meeting, Egypt's premier discussed various cooperation fields with JICA, which included the Cairo subway, the GEM, the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology, and support for Egypt Vision 2030. Meanwhile, Tanaka expressed his appreciation for participating in the inauguration of the GEM and praised the historic relations and cooperation between Egypt and Japan across various domains.

In addition to cultural collaboration, Tanaka emphasized that the inauguration of the GEM presents an opportunity to enhance cooperation in civil aviation and port development.
