German Chancellor Commends Hamas’ Response to Peace Plan

Berlin: German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Saturday lauded the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas over its positive response to the Gaza peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump. In a post on X, Merz described Hamas' acceptance of the US plan as "the best chance for peace" following two years of Israeli occupation aggression on the Gaza Strip. He emphasized that Germany "fully supports" the US president's call for both sides to implement the peace plan.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas announced on Friday that it had agreed to release all Israeli prisoners, both living and dead, in accordance with the exchange formula outlined in the US President's proposal. This announcement marks a significant step towards achieving peace in the region, and world leaders have welcomed Hamas' acceptance of the US-proposed Gaza ceasefire plan.

Chancellor Merz further stressed the urgency of the situation, stating, "The hostages must be released. Hamas must disarm. The fighting must cease immediately. All of this must happen very fast." His remarks underscore the international community's growing support for efforts to bring an end to the longstanding conflict between Israel and Palestine.
