Muscat: Jassem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC, acknowledged the pivotal role played by Oman in mediating a ceasefire agreement between the United States and the Houthi militia. This commendation was made during an announcement on Wednesday, highlighting Oman's influence in fostering peace in the region.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Budaiwi emphasized the significance of Oman's mediation efforts in bolstering the security and stability of the region. The GCC Secretariat's statement recognized the constructive role Oman has consistently played in diplomatic engagements aimed at regional stability.
Al-Budaiwi further asserted that GCC countries remain committed to policies that promote security and peace both regionally and internationally. He stressed the importance of maintaining de-escalation efforts to ensure maritime security and uphold international law, particularly referencing the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982.
