GCC Health Ministers Adopt Initiatives to Enhance Cooperation

Kuwait city: Health ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states approved a number of decisions and initiatives during the 11th meeting held on Saturday in Kuwait aimed at developing the GCC health system and enhancing joint cooperation among the Council's member states.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Secretariat-General said in a press statement that the meeting results included the adoption of the GCC strategic outcomes for combating drugs concerning the treatment and rehabilitation component, in addition to approving a unified action plan for the Council's Health Ministers Committee for the period 2026-2030.

Furthermore, the meeting emphasized importance of strengthening the work of the Joint Committee for Healthy Cities in line with the future visions of the Council's member states, the statement added.

The health ministers also stressed on launching the GCC Health Excellence Award, which aims to promote innovation and the quality of health services. They urged innovation and digital transformation in the GCC health sector, enhancing joint health cooperation with countries and international and regional organizations, and reducing the causes of disabilities.
