Kuwait city: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Al-Budaiwi expressed sincere condolences to Iraq, its government, and its people over the fire that erupted at a hypermarket in Kut city, east of Iraq, which resulted in the death and injury of dozens on Thursday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Budaiwi affirmed the GCC's sympathy with Iraq in this tragic incident. He prayed to Allah the Almighty to bestow mercy upon the victims, grant a rapid recovery to those injured, and protect Iraq and its people.
Earlier in the day, Iraq's Interior Ministry reported that the death toll from the fire, which occurred on Wednesday evening at the hypermarket, had risen to 61.
