GCC Chief Highlights Qatar’s Role in Social Development at Global Summit


Doha: The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Al-Budaiwi, emphasized that Qatar’s hosting of the Second World Summit for Social Development highlights its pivotal role as a significant regional and international partner in advancing human development and promoting collaborative humanitarian efforts.



According to Kuwait News Agency, the statement was made by the General Secretariat during Al-Budaiwi’s participation in the opening of the summit at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC). The event was attended by the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, along with various Heads of State, their representatives, senior officials, and experts in social development and policy.



Al-Budaiwi acknowledged the efforts of the State of Qatar in organizing this important global event in collaboration with the United Nations (UN). He noted that Qatar’s involvement in such initiatives reflects its significant international standing and active contribution to global dialogues on human development and investment in people.



He further explained that the conference’s objectives are integral to the GCC’s vision for social development, focusing on social justice, community empowerment, and the enhancement of social protection systems. These goals are in line with the GCC’s strategic aim of fostering more inclusive, prosperous, and sustainable societies.



The Secretary General reiterated the GCC’s commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at fostering social development and enhancing human well-being. He also stressed the Council’s dedication to strengthening international partnerships and sharing expertise to help achieve the conference’s goals and amplify the global impact of its programs and initiatives.



In conclusion, Al-Budaiwi emphasized that these efforts are in alignment with the directives of the GCC leaders, aiming to reinforce the Council’s role as an active participant in global endeavors promoting comprehensive human development.
