Tokyo: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Al-Budaiwi, engaged in discussions with Japanese Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Kato Akiyoshi, focusing on the recent progress in the second round of negotiations concerning the GCC-Japan Free Trade Agreement.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the meeting took place on Monday as part of Al-Budaiwi's official visit to Japan. The discussions covered various topics related to investment and trade, with a particular emphasis on advancing the Free Trade Agreement negotiations to enhance economic partnerships and serve mutual interests.
Both parties acknowledged that the Free Trade Agreement between the GCC and Japan represents a strategic initiative aimed at broadening trade exchange opportunities. This agreement is expected to strengthen economic ties and establish a solid foundation for joint cooperation, thereby promoting mutual interests and facilitating a sustainable economic partnership.
The Secretary-General also highlighted several economic indicators and statistics from the GCC countries, pointing out their economic performance and growth in multiple sectors. This growth has positioned the GCC as a key player regionally and internationally, attracting interest from countries looking to bolster their economic and trade relations with the region.
