GCC chief affirms aspiration to strengthen ties with the WB

Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Albudaiwi affirmed the GCC aspiration to strengthen its relationship with the World Bank Group, in a manner that serves the common goals of the council member countries. This statement came during his meeting with Abdulaziz Al Mulla, Executive Director at the World Bank Group and Suhail Saeed, Executive Director at the World Bank Group for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank meetings on Tuesday (October 22), according to a statement released by the GCC Secretariat General, on Wednesday. The talks addressed several topics related to enhancing cooperation between the two sides on economic matters, mechanisms for developing strategies to support innovation and entrepreneurship in the GCC countries, and continuous coordination for the exchange of expertise and knowledge in financial and economic fields. They also explored how to leverage the World Bank Group's international expertise in achieving the economic development goals of the GCC countries. Moreover, the GCC Secretary General commended the efforts of the World Bank Group to strengthen cooperation with the GCC General Secretariat, contributing to support the common goals of both sides through enhanced partnership, including the exchange of technical and advisory expertise, and the development of programmes and initiatives aimed at boosting economic growth.
