Kuwait city: The Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) hosted the 85th Meeting of the Committee of the Governors of the Central Banks in the GCC Countries. The meeting was chaired by CBK Governor Basel A. Al-Haroon and included representatives from the Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the meeting focused on reviewing the latest developments in the financial and monetary situations in the Gulf region and beyond, with an emphasis on enhancing integration among GCC central banks. The agenda covered recommendations from the technical committee related to payment systems, auditing, leveraging hi-tech methods, cybersecurity, and the fight against money laundering and terrorism financing.
The central bank governors also evaluated the progress of cooperation with international partners, including the People's Bank of China and the European Central Bank, along with other international financial institutions.
