Gas Pipeline Blast Claims Two Lives in Ismailia

Kuwait city: Two people were killed and six others injured when a gas pipeline exploded during routine maintenance works in the Abu-Sultan area in the eastern governorate of Ismailia.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the blast resulted from the disconnection of a pump at the Abu-Sultan pipeline complex. Fortunately, the incident did not affect the gas supplies to the national network as the pipeline was empty of gas at the time of the explosion, as confirmed by Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources on Sunday evening.

The injured victims were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, as stated in a press release from the ministry.
