GAMI Partners with GE Aerospace to Boost F110 Repair and MRO Skills at World Defense Show

Riyadh: The General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) and GE Aerospace have formalized an Industrial Participation Agreement aimed at enhancing F110 aircraft engine repair capabilities and strengthening maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) skills through specialized equipment and advanced training. Additionally, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed to explore the development of a globally competitive industrial base and accelerate Saudi Arabia's manufacturing roadmap in the aerospace sector. These agreements were concluded at the World Defense Show 2026 in Riyadh.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Deputy Governor for the Localization Sector of GAMI, Nawaf Albawardi, emphasized that the MoU will bolster GAMI's ongoing initiatives to localize and develop the military industries sector, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. The collaboration aims to acquire necessary knowledge in specialized processes and achieve international certifications to advance engine parts manufacturing capabilities.

He further noted that GE Aerospace is supporting defense sector requirements by providing local entities with the necessary technology, knowledge, and expertise to enhance local manufacturing activities and improve maintenance and repair capabilities. This initiative includes engine repair services within the Kingdom and the wider region, with the goal of creating high-value, skilled jobs and deepening local expertise in the military industries sector.

Salim Mousallam, Vice President, Defense and Systems for GE Aerospace in the Middle East, Africa, and Trkiye, stated that the partnership with GAMI highlights GE Aerospace's commitment to localizing strategic industries within Saudi Arabia and developing a highly qualified national workforce to advance Saudi Vision 2030. The collaboration aims to share knowledge on engine manufacturing and sustainment, transcending mere technology transfer. By supporting Saudi suppliers in developing capabilities in advanced MRO, manufacturing techniques, and precision engineering, the agreement is expected to accelerate Saudi Arabia's industrial expertise and global competitiveness.
