Beirut: France announced on Tuesday that it will organize two conferences to support the Lebanese Army and the reconstruction of Lebanon. This initiative highlights the ongoing commitment of France to aid Lebanon during its challenging times.
According to Kuwait News Agency, this announcement was made following a statement from the Lebanese Presidency. In this statement, President Joseph Aoun received a letter from French President Emmanuel Macron. The letter emphasized Macron’s support for Lebanon and outlined plans to hold the conferences before the end of the year.
The French President highlighted the importance of the Lebanese Army, describing it as “the cornerstone in achieving national sovereignty.” Alongside this, he expressed his intent to organize another conference aimed at aiding the reconstruction of Lebanon. Macron’s letter also underscored the strong friendship and support between France and Lebanon across various fields.
The statement further revealed that President Macron expressed his sati
sfaction with the United Nations Security Council’s decision in August to renew the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). He praised the Lebanese leadership for its efforts to ensure that arms remain under the control of legitimate Lebanese forces.
