France Commits to Supporting Ukraine and Boosting Joint Defense Production

Kyiv: French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot on Monday stressed his country's commitment to continue providing support to Ukraine in various fields, including in air defense, training of forces, development of drone production, and continuing sanctions imposed on Russia. The Minister thanked, in a post on X, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for mutual trust and fruitful exchanges during their meeting in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Minister Barrot announced that French defense companies have agreed to begin manufacturing drones inside Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he had a fruitful meeting with the French Minister, discussing several key files related to defense support, as well as the resolutions of the Ramstein group meetings.

Zelenskiy noted, also in a post on X, that the two sides discussed expanding joint defense production, highlighting the French companies' decision to start manufacturing drones on Ukrainian soil, which he considered a step of great strategic importance. He added that the meeting also covered sanctions imposed on Russia as well as the topic of Ukraine's accession to the European Union.

At the end of his post, Zelensky expressed his deep gratitude to France for its continuous support.
