Islamabad: The Former Chief of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed, has been sentenced by a Field General Court Martial to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment, as announced in a press release on Thursday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the trial against Faiz Hameed, which lasted for 15 months, was conducted under the provisions of the Pakistan Army Act. The former intelligence chief faced four charges related to political activities, including violations of the Official Secrets Act, misuse of authority and government resources, and causing wrongful loss to individuals.
The press release stated that, after extensive legal proceedings, Hameed was found guilty on all charges. The Court announced the 14-year rigorous imprisonment sentence, which was promulgated on December 11, 2025. It was emphasized that the Field General Court Martial adhered to all legal provisions during the trial and that the accused was granted all necessary legal rights, including the option to select his own defense team.
Hameed retains the right to appeal the verdict at a relevant forum. Furthermore, the press release hinted at ongoing separate investigations into Hameed's involvement in political agitation and instability, allegedly in cooperation with certain political elements.
