Kuwait City: The State of Kuwait is against all forms of terrorism and stands in support of international efforts to counter extremism, said Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya on Monday. Speaking to the ministerial session of the two-day Fourth Dushanbe conference, the minister affirmed that Kuwait was a vital partner in the global coalition against the so-called Islamic State (IS/Daesh) as well as any international organization that battles extremism and terrorism. According to Kuwait News Agency, the conference-held under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the title of "Strengthening International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Building Agile Border Security Mechanisms - The Kuwait Phase of the Dushanbe Process"-reflected Kuwait's willingness to oppose terrorism. The Minister emphasized Kuwait's role in combating terrorism, noting its position as the chair of the anti-terrorism fighters group from the global coalition against IS, alongside co-chairs Turki ye and the Netherlands. The minister highlighted Kuwait's cooperation with the US in the repatriation of family members associated with foreign terrorism fighters in camps in Syria and Iraq, ensuring a smooth process of returning them to their respective countries. Foreign Minister Al-Yahya also praised the ongoing regional and international efforts in countering terrorism and extremism, despite the numerous challenges facing the global community. He reiterated that terrorism remains a significant challenge for the international community, emphasizing that such criminal acts do not align with any creed, race, or religion. The Foreign Minister urged all countries to enhance efforts in reintegrating misled individuals as part of the comprehensive counterterrorism strategy. He stressed the importance of taking all necessary measures to eliminate terrorism and its negative impacts worldwide. The Fourth Dushanbe conference commenced earlier today with the participation of 450 individuals, including 33 ministers from member states, UN representatives, 23 regional and international organizations, and 13 civil society organizations.
