Marib: At least one person was killed and 13 others suffered from suffocation after a fire broke out at a shopping center in Marib, Yemen.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Yemeni news agency SABA quoted a security source stating that the blaze erupted after midnight, destroying the Ibn Al-Hajj Mall along with its second-floor storage areas, as well as a neighboring shoe store, while partially damaging a nearby furnishings shop. Quick action was taken to remove the shop's contents outside, which helped in mitigating further losses and preventing the fire from spreading.
All fatalities and injuries were attributed to smoke inhalation. Civil defense teams and police forces successfully managed to extinguish the fire, preventing it from spreading to other shops in the vicinity.
Authorities are conducting investigations to determine the cause of the fire. They have urged merchants and citizens to adhere strictly to safety measures to protect lives and property.
