Maarib: Fifteen people perished and two were injured in an accident on the “international road” in Maarib Governorate, the Yemeni news agency Saba’ reported on Tuesday. A passenger mini bus crashed into a motorcycle and a gas-powered truck that subsequently exploded in flames, according to initial reports from the scene.
According to Kuwait News Agency, a security source revealed more details of the deadly incident that occurred late on Monday. Firefighters quickly responded to the scene, extinguishing the blaze, while paramedics transported the injured, including a baby girl who sustained serious cuts, to a nearby hospital for treatment.
SABA reported that police have commenced investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident. Traffic accidents continue to claim thousands of lives annually across Yemeni provinces. In 2024 alone, authorities recorded 663 deaths and 4,261 injuries from 4,764 accidents in areas governed by the legitimate government.
