Jakarta: European Council President Antonio Costa on Monday called on China to lift its restrictions on the export of rare earth minerals, stressing the urgent need to restore reliable and stable global supply chains. According to Kuwait News Agency, Costa made this appeal during a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit. In a statement shared on X, Costa emphasized the European Union's commitment to fostering constructive and stable relations with China, aiming to enhance cooperation to tackle global challenges. Costa voiced his deep concern over China's increasing limitations on the export of critical raw materials, urging the establishment of "resilient, reliable, and predictable supply chains." He highlighted the importance of making tangible progress in rebalancing trade and economic relations between the EU and China, taking into account the outcomes of the recent EU-China summit.
