Euro Area Annual Inflation Steady at 2 Percent in July

Brussels: The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) announced that the annual inflation rate in the euro area remained stable at 2 percent in July 2025, maintaining the same level recorded in June, based on preliminary estimates provided by the office. According to Kuwait News Agency, Eurostat's report highlighted that the food, alcohol, and tobacco sector was the largest contributor to the annual inflation rate in July, with an increase of 3.3 percent, up from 3.1 percent in June. This sector's growth underscores its significant influence on the overall inflation rate. The report further detailed that the services sector recorded an inflation rate of 3.1 percent, showing a decrease from 3.3 percent the previous month. This slight reduction in the services inflation rate suggests a shift in consumer spending or cost adjustments within the sector. Additionally, Eurostat observed an increase in inflation within non-energy industrial goods, which rose to 0.8 percent, compared to 0.5 percent in June. This ind icates a gradual rise in prices for goods excluding energy, reflecting changes in production costs or market demand. The energy sector, however, continued to register negative rates, standing at -2.5 percent in July, marginally improved from -2.6 percent in June. This persistent negative trend in the energy sector inflation highlights ongoing challenges or shifts within the energy market.
