EU Reaffirms Full Support for IAEA’s Role in Iran Nuclear Issue

Brussels: The European Union on Thursday confirmed its unwavering support for the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) pivotal role in managing the Iranian nuclear situation, emphasizing Iran's need to comply fully with the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

According to Kuwait News Agency, EU Council President Antonio Costa expressed the EU's complete backing for the IAEA in a post on X, reflecting on a productive discussion with IAEA director Rafael Grossi. Costa highlighted the IAEA's unique position as the sole impartial organization capable of ensuring that Iran's nuclear program remains exclusively peaceful. He stressed that Iran must never be permitted to develop nuclear weapons.

Costa further mentioned that during his conversation on Wednesday with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, he underscored the importance of Iran's full compliance with the NPT and the necessity for the resumption of IAEA inspections.
