EU foreign policy chief to visit Egypt

EU High Representative Josep Borrell embarks on Saturday on a two-day visit to Egypt to review and strengthen the EU-Egypt partnership, said a statement released by his office today.

During his visit, Borrell will hold bilateral and high-level meetings with Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, President of Egypt; Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mohamed Zaki, Minister of Defence and Military Production and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Abbas Kamel, Director of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service and Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.

The visit will offer an opportunity to review and strengthen the EU-Egypt partnership, as well as the cooperation between the EU and the League of Arab States, and discuss common global and regional challenges, such as migration, energy, counterterrorism, and food security, added the statement.
