President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen expressed her "deep sorrow at the heartbreaking news" and conveyed her condolences in a post on X, extending her support to the families and loved ones of the victims. She assured Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Europe stands with India during these painful moments.
According to Kuwait News Agency, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas also expressed her regret for the incident in a post on X. She extended her thoughts to the families of the passengers and crew and all those affected by the tragedy. Meanwhile, President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola conveyed her solidarity with the people of India in a post on X, expressing her heartbreak over the tragic accident at Ahmedabad Airport. She emphasized the EU's support for India during this difficult time.
Earlier today, an Air India passenger plane crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad Airport en route to London Gatwick Airport. The crash resulted in several casualties among both passengers and crew members.
