EU Council Approves USD 13.8 Million Support for Jordanian Armed Forces.

BRUSSELS: The European Council has approved an assistance measure under the European Peace Facility (EPF), amounting to 13.25 million euros (approximately USD 13.8 million), to support the Jordanian Armed Forces. This strategic move aims to bolster Jordan's stability and national security amid a volatile regional landscape. According to Kuwait News Agency, the Council's press release highlighted that the newly approved measure is set to enhance the capabilities of the Jordanian Armed Forces. The support will focus on equipping the forces with detection and counter-measure systems, surveillance and reconnaissance systems, alongside mobility and engineering equipment. These provisions are specifically targeted at strengthening the northern and eastern commands of the Jordanian Armed Forces. The EU Council remarked that this decision signifies the deepening partnership between the EU and Jordan, especially in the realms of security and defense. Jordan is recognized as a pivotal partner for the EU and its membe r states, given its significant role in maintaining regional stability and advocating for moderation and peace in the area.
