Kuwait city: EU Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maros Sefcovic expressed his commitment to establishing a long-term trade and investment partnership with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member countries. Speaking on the sidelines of the Ninth EU-GCC Business Forum in Kuwait, Sefcovic highlighted the importance of the two-day event, which began on Tuesday, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance trade and investment exchanges.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Slovak diplomat emphasized the forum's vital role in uniting business leaders to discuss potential investment opportunities. He noted that this gathering occurs at a crucial juncture for global trade, as the EU aims to work closely with partners to expedite free trade discussions. Sefcovic expressed optimism about signing a free trade agreement that could lead to expansive trade relations and future business deals.
Sefcovic praised Kuwait's significant role in the annual forum and its efforts to boost trade cooperation. He acknowledged Kuwait as an essential investor in EU countries and highlighted the New Kuwait Vision 2035 as an ambitious strategy to transform Kuwait into a regional logistics hub with modern infrastructure.
The EU prioritizes collaboration with GCC countries to initiate joint ventures across various sectors. Sefcovic mentioned ongoing communication with GCC Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi to this end. He cited successful collaborations, such as the construction of the Riyadh Metro and Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi, and expressed a desire for more large-scale projects in the future.
