Erdogan and NATO Secretary General discuss developments in Russia and Sweden’s membership in NATO

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg the recent developments in Russia and Sweden’s membership in the alliance.

The Turkish Presidency’s Liaison Department said in a statement today, Sunday, that Erdogan stressed, during a phone call with Stoltenberg, that the end of the recent tension in Russia prevented humanitarian disasters with unimaginable consequences.

Erdogan expressed to Stoltenberg, according to the statement, his hope that the recent developments in Russia would be a new milestone on the path to a just peace in Ukraine.

In their discussion of Sweden’s membership in NATO, Turkey’s continued constructive stance towards Sweden’s membership was emphasized, but the legislative changes (in combating terrorism) in this country will not have meaning, as long as the supporters of the PKK organizations freely organize actions against Turkey / according to what came in the statement.
