Elon Musk Welcomed by EU Amid Tensions with President Trump

Brussels: Elon Musk has been warmly welcomed by the European Union, as tensions between the American billionaire and US President Donald Trump continue to escalate. The chief spokesperson of the European Commission expressed that Musk is "very much welcome in the European Union" following a sharp dispute with Trump that has strained their relationship.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the comments were made during a press conference on Friday in response to a query about whether Musk had engaged with the EU regarding relocating his business or initiating new projects. In addition, Thomas Renier, the European Commission spokesperson for technology affairs, stated, "Everyone is indeed welcome to start or expand their business in the European Union." He emphasized that this aligns with the main goal of the EC's "Choose Europe" initiative, which is designed to support startups and economic growth.

These developments occur amidst growing discord between Musk and Trump, with the US President expressing "deep disappointment" over Musk's recent criticisms despite previously being a major supporter. The tension has reached a point where Trump has hinted at withdrawing USD 18 billion in government contracts from Musk's companies. In response, Musk has threatened to terminate a significant US space program managed by SpaceX.

Despite these issues, Musk has been a vocal critic of EU policies, particularly digital regulations he has described as "censorship." He has also shown support for increasing far-right movements in Germany and other European nations.
