Cairo: Egyptian President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi affirmed on Monday his country's full support for achieving national consensus on the Somali political files, which would enhance security and consolidate the foundations of stability and sustainable development in Somalia. This commitment was declared during a press conference with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, as stated by the Egyptian Presidency Spokesperson Mohammad Al-Shinawy.
According to Kuwait News Agency, both leaders engaged in discussions on bilateral ties, regional developments, and issues of mutual concern. A primary focus was the regional security situation in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea. President Al-Sisi emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations, referencing a joint political declaration signed last January aimed at elevating relations between Egypt and Somalia to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
Somali President Mohamud highlighted that his visit aims to bolster the historical ties between Egypt and Somalia, opening new opportunities for joint cooperation. This includes enhancing communication between the two governments and fostering relations between the private sectors of both nations. He also expressed gratitude for Egypt's longstanding support of Somalia and recognized Cairo's vital role in backing Mogadishu over the years.
