Davos: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi emphasized the importance of the Palestinian cause as a central issue for achieving stability in the Middle East, labeling it a fundamental pillar for a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace. Presidential spokesman Ambassador Mohammad Al-Shennawy conveyed Al-Sisi's statements during a special dialogue session at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Sisi commended efforts by US President Donald Trump for his dedication to resolving the conflict in Gaza, and highlighted initiatives aimed at alleviating the humanitarian challenges faced by the Palestinian people over the past two years. He referenced the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, which took place last October, as a significant moment in Egypt's collaborative efforts with international partners to achieve a ceasefire and lay the groundwork for lasting peace and political resolution.
The president stressed the necessity of building upon the summit's achievements by strengthening the ceasefire, ensuring the unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and expediting reconstruction efforts throughout the region. Al-Sisi lauded the United States' announcement of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, viewing it as a crucial step in advancing the peace plan, reducing regional tensions, and fostering international collaboration.
Al-Sisi asserted that sustainable peace, stability, and development are attainable only through dialogue, international cooperation, mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and adherence to international law and the United Nations Charter. He also called for enhanced involvement of national, regional, and international business institutions, encouraging the private sector to take a leading role in promoting comprehensive and sustainable development globally.
In addition, Al-Sisi highlighted Egypt's ongoing implementation of ambitious economic reforms amidst regional and international challenges, focusing on stabilizing fiscal and monetary policies, improving legislation, attracting private investment, and receiving commendations from the IMF along with credit rating upgrades. He concluded by reiterating Egypt's commitment to reinforcing regional and international security, fostering economic growth and development, and enhancing cooperation with global partners to achieve shared goals.
