Cairo: Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi and Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam engaged in discussions on Saturday concerning bilateral cooperation and the Middle East situation.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the leaders participated in closed-door talks, which were followed by a broader meeting of their respective delegations. The discussions centered on enhancing collaboration in various sectors, as stated by Egypt's presidential Ambassador Mohammad Al-Shennawy in a press release.
During the talks, President Al-Sisi emphasized the potential for expanding economic and investment cooperation between Egypt and Singapore, highlighting the opportunities available in Egypt. President Shanmugaratnam acknowledged Egypt's development and investment prospects, along with its crucial role in supporting regional stability and security.
The discussions touched on areas such as trade, ports management, digital transformation, cultural cooperation, and regional and international issues, particularly in the Middle East. President Al-Sisi outlined Egypt's efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid, and secure the release of hostages. He reiterated Egypt's stance against the displacement of Palestinians and praised Singapore's humanitarian aid to Gazans.
The visit concluded with the signing of several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in agriculture, health, maritime transportation, social protection, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises.
