Egypt Voices Support for Sudan’s “Government of Hope” Amidst Ongoing Crisis

Cairo: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty expressed on Monday his country's full solidarity with the Sudanese people and unwavering support for the "Government of Hope" led by Dr. Kamil Idris. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press statement that this came during a phone call between Abdelatty and his Sudanese counterpart, Mohieddin Salem. The call followed Abdel Atiyah's recent visit to Port Sudan, where he discussed ways to assist a comprehensive political settlement in Sudan.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Abdelatty reaffirmed his country's commitment to Sudan's territorial unity and national institutions, rejecting any moves aimed at dividing the country. He strongly condemned the recent atrocities in El-Fasher, calling for immediate, unimpeded humanitarian access, increased relief assistance, and enhanced cooperation with the United Nations, the African Union, and humanitarian agencies.

Abdelatty also stressed the need for a full, permanent ceasefire and a broad-based political process that meets the aspirations of the Sudanese people for security, stability, and development. He underlined the importance of implementing the terms of the International Quartet's September 12 declaration, and emphasized ongoing close coordination between Egypt and Sudan on water rights and other shared interests.
