Cairo: Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi on Sunday reiterated his call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the allowance of humanitarian aid, commending ongoing joint mediation efforts by Egypt, the US, and Qatar.
According to Kuwait News Agency, his remarks came during a meeting with the US Senior Advisor on Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs, Massad Boulos, which was attended by Foreign and Immigration Minister Dr. Bader Abdulaty along with General Intelligence Service Chief (GIS) Hassan Rashad.
The discussions addressed regional developments and strategies to restore stability in Libya, Lebanon, Sudan, and Yemen, as stated in the report. President Al-Sisi emphasized the robust US-Egypt relations and the nation's dedication to enhancing cooperation in all areas. He underscored the necessity for an inclusive, Libyan-led political resolution supported by a government capable of conducting both presidential and parliamentary elections, noting that Egypt is significantly impacted by the instability in Libya.
The talks also highlighted the importance of preserving Lebanon's stability and sovereignty, advocating for the full implementation of UN Resolution 1701, and discussed efforts to support stability in the Horn of Africa and the Sahel regions.
Meanwhile, Boulos reaffirmed Washington's eagerness to collaborate with Cairo to strengthen security and stability in all domains and to restore peace in the region.
The official emphasized the Egypt-US relationship, indicating that President Donald Trump's Administration is intent on deepening the strategic partnership with Egypt.
