Kuwait City: Egypt called Monday on the international community, with its various international and regional entities, to unite behind a political vision to resolve the Palestinian issue and end the historical injustice that the Palestinian people have been and are still being subjected to, and to restore their legitimate and inalienable rights. According to Kuwait News Agency, a statement by the foreign ministry said, Egypt affirmed its adherence to its previous position rejecting any infringement on these rights, including the right to self-determination, remaining on the land, independence, and the right of return for Palestinian refugees who were forced to leave their homeland. The statement noted that in light of the critical and pivotal stage that the Middle East region is going through, Egypt affirms that the only way to confront the risks and threats to regional and international peace and security resulting from the Israeli occupation and the recent Israeli aggression on Gaza and its repercussions is for the international community to adopt an approach that takes into account the rights of all people of the region without discrimination, including the Palestinian people who are suffering from unprecedented injustice to their basic rights, and the right to live in peace on their homeland. The statement stressed that ignoring international legitimacy in dealing with the region's crises threatens to undermine the foundations of peace that efforts and sacrifices have been made to preserve and establish over decades.
