Samarkand: Minister of Education Dr. Jalal Al-Tabtabaei affirmed Tuesday that the State of Kuwait places great importance on education as a key pillar of its future vision “Kuwait 2035,” focusing on improving quality and modernizing curricula in line with global developments. He spoke at the 43rd session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from November 1 to 13, with participation from 194 member states.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Tabtabaei highlighted Kuwait’s firm belief in investing in education by developing infrastructure, empowering teachers and students, and building a creative and responsible generation. He noted that Kuwait is taking decisive steps to integrate artificial intelligence concepts and digital learning tools to enhance interaction and innovation, enriching educational content and fostering critical thinking, research skills, and sustainable learning values.
He added that through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Kuwait supports educational projects in developing countries worth over USD 650 million. Al-Tabtabaei expressed Kuwait’s commitment to continued cooperation with UNESCO and its partners in promoting education, culture, and science, while strengthening peace, understanding, and sustainable development.
Marking two years since the Israeli occupation aggression on Gaza, the minister condemned the destruction of schools, hospitals, and more than 110 historical and religious sites, stressing the need to protect educational and cultural institutions in occupied Arab territories. He reaffirmed Kuwait’s support for UNESCO’s efforts to safeguard education and culture in conflict zones, assist reconstruction, and provide educational and humanitarian aid.
Al-Tabtabaei concluded by emphasizing the importance of multilateral cooperation as the best approach to addressing global challenges and preserving human heritage through UNESCO’s pivotal role.
