Kuwait City: Dr. Moudhi Al-Humoud, a Member of Abdullah Al-Salem University's Founding Board, emphasized that receiving the state's appreciation award enhances her sense of responsibility and motivates her ongoing efforts to serve the country, share expertise, and empower the youth.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Humoud was awarded the state's appreciation award for social services in 2024, recognizing her significant contributions in academia and her influential role in education. In an interview on Wednesday, she expressed pride and gratitude for the recognition and acknowledged the efforts of those who have diligently worked for the nation.
Al-Humoud reflected on the numerous opportunities Kuwait has provided, whether through education or professional endeavors. She noted her tenure as Minister of Education, during which she played a pivotal role in establishing the second public university.
Discussing her academic journey, Al-Humoud shared her passion for education, which began with her graduation as an honor student in Business Administration and continued with her pursuit of higher degrees, including a master's and PhD. Her career progressed as she taught at Kuwait University, eventually becoming vice president, and later served as president of the Open Arab University.
Al-Humoud also highlighted her interest in social and volunteer work, particularly in advocating for women's rights and empowerment in the workplace. Through her roles as Education Minister and Minister of Residential Affairs and State Minister of Planning, she has been able to offer her services effectively.
Given the opportunity, Al-Humoud stated she would prioritize advancing education at all levels to establish a robust foundation for active development, ensuring a brighter future for Kuwait. She believes the country deserves to be a leader in this area.
Having participated in multiple councils and committees, Al-Humoud underscored the importance of empowering women, acknowledging the numerous challenges they face across various sectors. She pointed out that through increased job opportunities and political leadership's trust, Kuwaiti women have achieved considerable success in professional and political spheres.
Al-Humoud also emphasized the importance of empowering people with disabilities by ensuring they have access to education, training, and job opportunities, along with recognizing their skills and potential.
She concluded by highlighting the significance of volunteer work in shaping a positive societal character, and stressed that self-confidence and perseverance are crucial to success, viewing failure as a stepping stone to future achievements.
