Doha: The 34th edition of the Doha International Book Fair is set to commence on Thursday at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center. The event will feature publishers from numerous countries, including Kuwait, showcasing their books and publications.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the cultural event will see participation from 522 publishing houses representing 43 countries. This year's guest of honor is Palestine. The fair will also include contributions from government departments, private institutions, and embassies.
The event will introduce the first edition of a professional program for literary exchange, designed to enhance literary swaps, publishing rights, and translation. Additionally, the organizers will announce the winners of awards for publishers and composers.
Attendees can also look forward to a series of cultural symposiums and other activities throughout the event. The fair, which began in 1972 with just 20 publishing houses, now hosts up to 500 publishers, reflecting its growth and significance in the literary world.
