Colombo: The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, represented by the religious attach© at the Saudi embassy in India, initiated the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' programs for the distribution of dates and iftar for fasting individuals in Sri Lanka.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the launch occurred during a ceremony at the Saudi embassy in Colombo, attended by Saudi Ambassador to Sri Lanka Khalid Al-Qahtani, Sri Lankan Deputy Minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs Muneer Mulaffer, officials from Islamic affairs, heads of Islamic associations and centers, and various religious and media figures.
Approximately five tons of dates are being distributed, reaching 20,000 fasting men and women. The iftar program benefits about 5,000 individuals across different regions of the country, aiming to bring joy and share the happiness of the holy month with beneficiaries.
The deputy minister expressed gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for these humanitarian efforts, which reflect the Kingdom's care for Muslims globally.
He praised the ministry's ongoing efforts to implement religious and relief programs, highlighting how these initiatives strengthen bonds of brotherhood and humanitarian communication among peoples.
