Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Chairs Cabinet Session in Riyadh

Riyadh: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet session held in Riyadh today. The Cabinet addressed important regional and international issues, including a letter from Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and a phone call between the Crown Prince and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Cabinet welcomed the second phase of the peace plan in Gaza, the Palestinian National Committee's role, and US efforts towards establishing a peace council. The session stressed the importance of maintaining a ceasefire in Gaza, facilitating humanitarian aid, and supporting the Palestinian National Authority's efforts to establish an independent state in line with international resolutions.

The Cabinet also highlighted Saudi Arabia's support for the ceasefire agreement in Syria and the integration of Syrian Democratic Forces into the Syrian state. It emphasized the Kingdom's commitment to Syria's sovereignty and the aspirations of its people. Additionally, ongoing efforts to resolve the Yemeni crisis were discussed, highlighting the importance of the Riyadh conference in seeking sustainable solutions.

Saudi Arabia's leading role in humanitarian aid was acknowledged, with the Kingdom ranking second globally and first in the Arab world among donor countries. It was noted that Saudi Arabia is the largest supporter of Yemen in 2025, as per the United Nations Financial Tracking Service.

The Cabinet also focused on strengthening economic partnerships, celebrating the success of the Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh. The event saw participation from 91 countries and resulted in significant agreements valued at over SAR100 billion in various sectors.

Several Memoranda of Understanding were approved, including cooperation with Pakistan in electrical interconnection, Iraq in combating drug trafficking, and Singapore in social development. Other agreements involved collaborations in geology, civil aviation, water irrigation, financial intelligence, and auditing.

The session concluded with the approval of the National Insurance Sector Strategy and the establishment of a committee to address challenges faced by individuals with autism spectrum disorder.
