Manama: The General Secretariat of the Council of Representatives has received a number of international certifications in recognition of its advanced integration of global standards, including ISO 42001 for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems, making it the first legislative body worldwide to obtain this certification. The achievement highlights the Secretariat's leadership in the responsible and institutional use of advanced technologies. The certifications were presented during a meeting between, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, the Secretary-General of the Council of Representatives, and Samah Ayadi, Managing Director of SGS Near East FZC.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Buainain said the General Secretariat has made compliance with international standards a strategic priority within its development plans, aimed at enhancing institutional efficiency, improving service quality, and strengthening governance and sustainability in line with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
He noted that alignment with global standards reflects the Secretariat's commitment to adopting leading international best practices across administrative, technological and environmental fields, in implementation of the directives of Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives.
As part of these achievements, the General Secretariat also obtained ISO 14001 certification for environmental management, placing it among the first parliaments worldwide to receive this accreditation. The certification underscores its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable institutional practices aligned with global efforts to reduce waste and conserve natural resources.
In the area of information security, the Secretariat was awarded ISO 27001 certification, reflecting the strength of its digital systems in managing cyber risks and ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of legislative and oversight-related data, in line with international standards for secure digital transformation.
Ayadi praised the General Secretariat's efforts to enhance the quality of its institutional and technological services, as well as its adoption of advanced digital solutions integrated with cybersecurity, governance and environmental sustainability, contributing to greater efficiency and transparency in parliamentary work.
