Kuwait City: The Supreme Committee on Kuwaiti citizenship has announced the revocation of citizenship for 476 individuals, a decision now referred to the cabinet for further action. This significant development was disclosed during a meeting led by Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Interior Ministry's statement detailed the reasons behind the citizenship revocations. Thirteen individuals lost their citizenship under article (11) of the citizenship law due to holding dual citizenships. In addition, 443 individuals had their citizenship revoked under article (21 bis A) because they obtained it through forgery, fraud, or affiliation. Three people were stripped of their citizenship under article 13 due to actions conflicting with the state's supreme interest.
Furthermore, the statement revealed that sixteen individuals lost their citizenship under article 13 for committing crimes of infamy. Lastly, one individual was stripped of their article 14 citizenship due to issues concerning loyalty to the country.
